Barbara practices triathlon and is on the way to become a professional. She divides her time with the medicine faculty – nutrition carrier – where she must organize her time in a quite disciplined way in order to accomplish successfully both activities.
Since she was eight she made long times running with her father, where her love for nature and affective bonds with sports, gave her a great physical and psychological strength.
Since she was very little she got outstanding places in mountain bike competitions and athletic tracks, reaching several triumphs at national league.
The Catholic University Sport Club was responsible for her sport development, which gave her achievements in athletic tracks. This, together with her passion for natural environments and her Waldorf education awakened an interest for developing triathlon.
In early years she accomplished several continental titles and was top-nine in the Youth
World Championship of 2005, in Japan this finally took her to make the decision of taking into consideration de oceanic country for her sports development. Australia is today, her support in order to achieve her next goals.
“I love this activity as a process that gives me the opportunity to make a link with the world, so that from this point of view, my achievements can be the ones of many young people of my country. In this way some day I will be able to teach them all my abilities for their human and sports development”.
Her aspiration is to become an important athlete in the world elite triathlon, with Olympic objectives. Since she was little she has had success due to her humility and simplicity. She was chosen one of the more talented young people of the country for her sports level and academic excellence. She was also recognized as one of the young emerging promises with the BG scholarship of the ITU, selected as Catholic University Sport Club icon, and supported by the ADO in her international events.
Bárbara loves what she does, and is of that kind of people that when achieve great goals you may absolutely say it was for her passion, strength, constancy, perseverance, simplicity, professionalism and the values that she daily demonstrates, being a source of admiration for those who know her.
